Meet Our Clinicians

Amanda Magdalena Corcoran, LCSW

CEO, Founder, and Supervising therapist

Accepting Telehealth Clients in California & Connecticut

Hello, I’m Amanda Corcoran, CEO, Founder, and Lead/Supervising Therapist at Changing Tides Mental Health Therapy Services. I founded Changing Tides in 2025 after seven years in solo private practice, with a vision of expanding access to compassionate, high-quality telehealth mental health care for individuals and families in California and Connecticut.

Today, I primarily work with adolescents (13+) and adults through telehealth therapy, supporting clients as they navigate life’s challenges and transitions. Many of the individuals I work with are seeking support for ADHD, anxiety, depression, and major life changes such as relationship conflict, marriage transitions, gender identity exploration, becoming a new parent, postpartum adjustments, or entering new stages of family life like empty nesting.

As a first-generation Latina, I bring both personal understanding and professional experience to working with first-generation individuals and immigrants. Many clients find it helpful to explore the unique cultural, family, and identity experiences that shape their lives. Together, we create space to process those experiences, build resilience, and move toward a life that feels more balanced and fulfilling.

Starting therapy is a meaningful step, and finding a therapist who feels like the right fit is just as important. Clients often share that they appreciate my warm, welcoming approach, especially those who may feel nervous or unsure about beginning therapy. I aim to create a space that feels comfortable and conversational, where we can explore your goals, better understand what may be holding you back, and develop practical strategies that support your well-being and growth.

At Changing Tides, we believe that collaboration strengthens the therapeutic process. As a group practice, our clinicians work together to share knowledge, support one another, and provide thoughtful, coordinated care. This collaborative approach can be especially helpful for families who may have multiple members seeking support, allowing our team to work together to promote healthier communication, stronger relationships, and a more connected family system.

My professional experience spans a variety of clinical settings that continue to inform my work today. Earlier in my career, I worked within the criminal justice system, collaborating with judges, attorneys, and probation officers to help create pathways to mental health and substance use treatment as alternatives to incarceration. I also worked in a Crisis Stabilization Center supporting adolescents and families during some of their most difficult moments, helping them move toward stability and safety.

In addition, I spent many years working with children with autism, youth in the foster care system, and families in community-based programs focused on strengthening family relationships and keeping families safely together. These experiences deepened my understanding of how systems, families, and life circumstances intersect with mental health.

Whether you are seeking support for yourself, your relationship, or your family, my goal is to provide a compassionate, respectful space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to create meaningful change in your life.

Lea Hemphill, AMFT

Accepts clients from anywhere in California.

Associate in Marriage and Family Therapy (AMFT #147463)

My name is Lea Hemphill, and I provide telehealth therapy to clients throughout California. My goal is to create a supportive space where you can explore challenges, gain insight, and build the tools needed for meaningful and lasting change.

I earned my M.S. in Clinical/Counseling Psychology and B.A. in Psychology with Honors from California State University, San Bernardino. My background also includes research in neuropsychology and aging, with peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations focused on mood, anxiety, cognitive decline, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease. This experience informs my work by helping me understand the complex ways emotional, cognitive, and life experiences can affect well-being.

I have several years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults in both school-based and community mental health settings. In therapy, I work with individuals and couples who may be navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, or stress related to academic and developmental changes. I currently provide Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS) within a public school district and also work in private practice, helping clients develop practical coping strategies and greater emotional resilience.

Clients often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about the next step. Together, we will work to better understand patterns, strengthen coping skills, and identify new ways of approaching challenges. My role is not simply to offer advice, but to help you gain clarity, deepen self-understanding, and build trust in your own ability to navigate life’s difficulties.

Whether you are seeking support for anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, or personal growth, therapy can be an opportunity to reconnect with your strengths and create meaningful change. I strive to provide a therapeutic environment grounded in safety, transparency, compassion, creativity, and respect so that you feel supported throughout your journey.

Insurance & Superbills

Insurance coverage varies by state and provider. If we are not in-network with your insurance plan, you may request a superbill to seek reimbursement for out-of-network therapy services.

A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes the information your insurance company may require to process reimbursement. Clients typically pay for each therapy session at the time of service, and then submit the superbill to their insurance provider to receive partial reimbursement, depending on their out-of-network benefits.

Important Insurance Considerations

• Not all insurance plans reimburse for out-of-network mental health services.
• Some plans require that you meet your deductible before reimbursement begins.
• Superbills can often be applied toward your insurance deductible.

We strongly recommend contacting your insurance provider before beginning therapy to understand your out-of-network mental health benefits, reimbursement rates, and deductible requirements. This can help you better predict the portion of therapy costs your insurance may cover.

Good Faith Estimate

Under federal law, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate that explains how much your medical or mental health care, including psychotherapy or telehealth therapy sessions, will cost.

This estimate applies to patients who don’t have insurance or choose not to use insurance for their therapy services. You can request a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency mental health services, including individual or couples therapy.

How it works:

  • You can request a Good Faith Estimate from your therapist or any provider before scheduling a session.

  • If your bill ends up being $400 or more than the estimate, you have the right to dispute it.

  • Be sure to keep a copy or photo of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.

For more information about your rights or to learn how Good Faith Estimates work, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
